Man of might and mercy

Last week I had the privelege of attending a conference in Melbourne entitled "Men of might and mercy". After listening to many great speakers and sharing my thoughts with other men that were there with me, I came away from the conference with a sense of what it means to be a Godly man in 2011. If I look to implement what this means in my work, I understand that I must be strong in my committment but gracious in my relationships and decision-making. Once again the issue of pokie machines in raging in Bendigo. Machines programmed to suck the life and money out of those who can least afford it. I now look to step up to the plate to fight this issue once again, determined to fight for a just cause and call on God to give me the means and words in which to do it. If you believe there's something worth fighting for, maybe now is the time to fight. Just do it with might and mercy.

Are you asking about revival of Christians in need of a pick-up, or of God turning masses to himself? I've been talking about men finding salvation in the absence of mass revival.

Raymond I am not sure what you are saying here? are you in favour of revival? The comforter whom Jesus is in the form of the Holy Spirit does take away the heart of stone and a broken and a contrite heart is something God does not despise. A heart filled with the Holy Spirit and a person who is not quenching and grieving Him is this what you mean?

How does that happen Anne? Not so far in response to the thousnads of Christian's prayers over many years/generations in many denomionations. How do people have their hearts changed? By the Holy Spirit of God touching their hearts, primarily from reading the bible, followed by Christian witness. Expecting people to come to church so that they can be saved is a clear failure according to the statistics. The prayers of God's people with the distribution of God's Word to the world clearly works. I reckon most of us western Christians don't understand just how powerful God's Word is in its own right, standing alone. If we did we'd be supporting the tranlation and distribution of bibles as a high personal and church priority, I contend.

How about a good old fashioned revival ...if you take something away from people it needs a replacement and looking at the Bible truths on the sons of Sceva (SP) when Christ was not in the heart and soul to fight the demons trying to enter when the heart was swept clean it made room for many more devils than before. Christ the light repels the demons people have and bow down to.
